We see the promotion of biodiversity as a further element in keeping our planetary ecosystem in balance in the long term. To this end, we have evaluated possible fields of action according to their relevance and feasibility at our sites worldwide. This revealed potential for realisation at the Grebenau site, where AUWA Chemie GmbH is based.
In order to maximise the benefits for local nature, the measures aimed at achieving precisely this were discussed in consultation with a regional gardener (see sketch of eco-reserve). The following is an extract of the components of the eco-reserve:
- Native water lily
- Natural stone insect hotel
- Perennial wildflower meadow
- Deadwood hedge + Benjes hedge = Insect hotel
- Butterfly bush
- Sandstone wall
We are very satisfied with the result and the lively activity of nature confirms our approach. We are therefore continuously looking into implementing a similar project at other locations and expanding the existing reserve in Grebenau in order to continue our contribution to promoting biodiversity. The idyllic area can also be used in the future by our employees for a break in nature with all its facets.
